The Story Behind The Products

The Story Behind The Products

Happy Wednesday!

Over the past week or so, I wrote down a bunch of different topics I wanted to cover in the blog. I am trying to get more organized this year, and so far, so good! Today, I thought I should give some history as to how my skincare line came to be. I realized that I have given some background on my story, but not necessarily my products. SO here we go!

After practicing esthetics for 10 years, in 2016 I decided to finally take the leap and go out on my own. I was renting a space inside of a salon so it was a perfect launch point, as I was not totally by myself. Once I had my space squared away, I dove right into researching product lines.

For those of you that are not in the industry, it can be really difficult to find a quality skincare line that does not require high minimum monthly orders or a substantial opening order. There is also the tricky part of finding something that is different- offering something that other local spas are not.

I have worked with a number of skincare lines over the past 15+ years and there are benefits and drawbacks to most of them. Some are larger so they offer great education, professional incentives and free samples/testers. However, the larger brands are more mass produced, have less unique aspects to them and can often be ordered through Amazon or other online platforms. Smaller companies often times don't have the means to offer education for their lines or the free perks, but they can cater towards small business owners, like myself.

I started out by bringing in a few different lines to carry and use in my treatments, but still felt like I was constantly searching for those "key products" to fill in the gaps that I knew I had. Then, by some divine intervention, I was introduced, by a previous coworker, to an incredibly talented, local skincare formulator that had just moved to the east coast from Los Angeles. We hit if off immediately! We are both Cancers and I swear that is part of why we mesh so well.

She introduced me to the world of custom blending, beautiful plants and herbs that I had never seen or heard of, the process of designing labels and creating a brand. It was eye opening and I was hooked immediately. It has been a labor of love, for sure, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Starting with just six or seven items, the line has now grown to over fifteen offerings and is still expanding. I feel completely confident in recommending these products because I know exactly where they are created, that there is so much thought and creativity behind the blending and that they fit the needs of most skincare concerns.

So, that is my story of how Rachel Ferraro Esthetics came to be! It was all about timing, cultivating partnerships, listening to what clients needed, creativity and a bit of magic!

Mary Lou Cook

So take the risks, make the mistakes, and have fun creating something new!!

As always, thank you for reading!
With Gratitude-
