Creatures of Habit

Creatures of Habit

Happy Wednesday!

Our family is one week into distance learning and I am over the moon with how well it has gone so far. I really had my reservations as to how this was all going to go down. I had “a moment” the night before school was starting, after everyone was asleep, when I kind of lost it a little....just knowing that here we are, six months since our lives were turned upside down, and not too much has changed. However, when I really gave myself the space to absorb that “moment” I realized that so much has changed- some for the better and some, not so much.

However, this past week, I have realized how much I am a creature of habit- and so is my family. Most of us probably are, when it really boils down to it. Being back on a schedule and having someone keep us accountable for showing up has made all of the difference! And the teachers....oh the teachers....I cannot praise them enough for how well they have handled this pivot. To teach in a way that they were never taught to and they are doing it with such grace and positivity. My children are learning and flourishing, as best as they can, and for this, I am so grateful.

Daily Ritual

One thing I would love to share that my girls and I have gotten back into the habit of is going for walks before we start our school/work day. (Yes- I actually have uninterrupted time to work now!!) Fall has started to set in here in Maryland and our walks have been something we look forward to everyday.

Another thing I have loved is how the girls both start their days with dancing/music with their virtual classrooms. My 4th grader’s teacher always plays music that the kids can jam out to before they start their morning meeting. My kindergartener’s teacher always starts with a fun “good morning song’ for them to sing and dance to together. Again, just one small thing that sets the tone and allows them to do something they would normally do if they were in class.

RFE Update

Today I had a virtual meeting with the web design group that I hired to re-design my website and I was blown away- they nailed it! They have breathed new life into RFE and the timing is so perfect. I am incredibly excited to share it and our launch will be in the next week or two, so stay tuned.

By the way, if you are in need of marketing and design support for your small business, contact https://www.randrcreativeco.com. They are wonderful to work with and would highly recommend them!

Also, just a reminder that I have re-launched the popular Revive mud cleanser. I will have them in stock by the end of the week so you can preorder yours now and have it shipped to you (or pick up, if you are local) by early next week.

The quote for today is one that my daughter’s classmate shared this week. He said that he wrote it himself. She made sure to write it down because she knows that I always post a weekly quote!

“Every single day someone normal does an extraordinary thing.”

Do something. It may not seem extraordinary to you, but I guarantee you it will be extraordinary to someone else.

As always, thank you for reading.

With gratitude,
Rachel
